This year's MCPHS scholarship awards were handed out at a dinner at Fitzgeralds of Middleton.
Sean Benedict was the first recipient of this year's Middleton Sertoma
scholarship. Sean will attend the UW-Madison this fall. He is the son
of Cheryl and Jim Benedict. The picture shows Sean receiving the award
from Mark Schmidt, Middleton Sertoma Club president in an awards
luncheon at Fitzgeralds.
Sarah Woody was the second recipient of this year's Middleton Sertoma
scholarship. Sarah will attend Lawrence University in Appleton, WI in
the fall. She is the daughter of Sumita Ram. The picture shows Sarah
receiving the award from Mark Schmidt, Middleton Sertoma Club president.

Awards Opportunities
Tom Schmitt Middleton High School baseball coach spoke to Middleton Sertoma at Fitzgeralds. He is representing the Cardinals Strike Out Cancer game. The Sun Prairie baseball team has again partnered with the Middleton baseball team in a baseball game to raise funds and awareness for American Family Children's Hospital in the fight against cancer.
Middleton Sertoma club has joined the fight against cancer by providing a donation to the Cardinals Strike Out Cancer goal of raising $10,000. this year. (Mark Schmidt, Sertoma Club president [on left] presenting a check to Tom Schmitt [on right].)

Dana Henke from the Middleton Baseball & Softball Commission gave Middleton Sertoma Club an update on the commission's work and specifically on their progress toward realizing an in-door off-season facility for training and practice.
The picture shows Mark Schmidt, Middleton Sertoma Club president making a financial donation to the Middleton Baseball & Softball Commission. Dana noted that Sertoma's donations are primarily directed to help scholarship children who could not otherwise afford to participate. The Commission also has Jersey's with Sertoma as team sponsor.

Habitat for Humanity of Dane Co.
Valery Johnson, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Dane County was invited
to give Middleton Sertoma an update on their work at the spring meeting at
Fitzgeralds of Middleton. Valery reported that over the time that Habitat has been in Dane County, they
have placed approximately 230 families into homes. The local Habitat
group with volunteers place on average, 15 families in homes each year.
Each recipient family has significant sweat equity in their home. With
the sweat equity and good credit they purchase their home at market
value. Habitat is able to sustain their work through Habitat Restore
stores, donations and homeowner mortgage payments.
