Valery Johnson, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Dane County was invited
to give Middleton Sertoma an update on their work at the spring meeting at
Fitzgeralds of Middleton. Valery reported that over the time that Habitat has been in Dane County, they
have placed approximately 230 families into homes. The local Habitat
group with volunteers place on average, 15 families in homes each year.
Each recipient family has significant sweat equity in their home. With
the sweat equity and good credit they purchase their home at market
value. Habitat is able to sustain their work through Habitat Restore
stores, donations and homeowner mortgage payments.
The picture (at left) shows Mark Schmitt, Middleton Sertoma president
making a financial donation to Habitat and a tool box of basic tools for
a new home owner to Habitat for Humanity of Dane County.
The club also put together a set of tools that Habitat will give to one of the new homeowners (below).
